Who we are

Captain-led judgement, personally delivered

Anthony Austin Yachts provides captain-led superyacht buyer’s brokerage to private individuals and families, family offices, and the private banks and wealth managers who advise them. I act as your buyer’s broker, from the first brief to handover: finding suitable yachts, arranging access and viewings, assessing suitability, and negotiating and organising the purchase within the mandate we agree.

I start with how you will use the yacht: who will be aboard, where you want to go and how you want to spend your days. I turn the evidence into a reasoned recommendation, and you always know what needs your attention and what happens next.

You make the decisions and authorise the offers. The lawyers, surveyors, tax advisers, insurers and managers you appoint remain responsible for their own professional work, and I keep the purchase moving between them. Remuneration is explained and agreed in writing before any appointment; the Fees page gives the outline.

How I work

You deal with me, start to finish

You deal with me from the first conversation to handover, so you never have to explain your plans again at each stage. The person who reads your file is the person who prepares your viewings, supports the negotiation and follows the survey and sea trial through with you.

Before each viewing we agree what the visit should resolve, and you always know when you will hear from me next. Your lawyer, surveyor, tax adviser, insurer, financier and manager each stay responsible for their own professional work, and I make sure you know who is handling each matter.

For a decision most people make once or twice in a lifetime, that continuity is what I offer.

The person who reads your file is the person beside you at every decision that follows.

Adviser profile

Captain Anthony Austin

UK MCA Master Mariner Unlimited, with approaching two decades at sea.

Master Mariner Unlimited is the highest certificate of competency the United Kingdom issues to a deck officer, covering unlimited tonnage and unrestricted waters.

Those years at sea include service aboard vessels carrying more than two thousand guests and nine hundred crew, to Antarctica, up the Amazon and round the North Cape.

That is the judgement I bring to a buyer’s brokerage: how a yacht will work for your family once she is yours and the brochure is gone, as well as how she looks at the quay. I give you a clear recommendation, and the decision is yours.

What a yacht costs to run, and what she will need, is decided by the people working on her long after the sale has closed.

Where Captain Austin has worked

Experience that is not confined to one coastline

Approaching two decades at sea has taken Captain Austin to 101 countries and territories, from the Antarctic to the Amazon and from the Caribbean to the North Cape. A yacht is bought in one place and used in many, and I bring that range to the decision.

What we think

Published, so you can see how we reason

Anthony writes and speaks on how private banks and family offices think about governance, succession and the use of outside specialists, and on how the same discipline applies to buying a superyacht.

Families and advisers who bring real rigour to investment and succession decisions often have no equivalent structure for a purchase that can run into eight figures and affect three generations.

We publish that thinking so a buyer or an adviser can see how we reason about a purchase before they ever appoint us on one.

Where we work

Your buyer’s broker, from the first brief to handover

UK based, with worldwide coverage. I work wherever the buyer, the yacht or the transaction happens to be, from a first viewing anywhere in the world through to sea trial and handover.

For buyers, family offices and the advisers who work alongside them, at any stage of a superyacht purchase.
