Typical projects
Where a project fits
Four common examples. If your task is different, it is still worth a conversation.
01
Inspection preparation
Preparation and coordination for a class or flag inspection, alongside your appointed specialists.
02
Technical findings
Follow-up on survey or inspection findings: what matters, who deals with it, and by when.
03
Proposed works
An independent review of works proposed by a yard or manager, before any work is committed.
04
A package of findings
One considered view across several reports, so the decision is clear rather than buried in paper.
Something else? Describe it to us and we will tell you whether it suits a project.
How it works
Four steps, no surprises
01
We talk it through
A first conversation to understand the task. Private, with no obligation.
02
We set the scope
Responsibilities, deliverables and the completion point, agreed in writing.
03
We do the work
Alongside your appointed specialists, with updates as agreed.
04
The project closes
You receive the deliverables, and the work is complete.

Questions
Quick answers
What is a Defined Consultancy Project?
Support with a specific task that needs involvement over an agreed period, such as preparing for a class or flag inspection, reviewing proposed works, or following up technical findings alongside your appointed specialists.
What do I receive at the end?
The deliverables agreed at the outset, such as a written record of findings, a coordinated inspection or a clear view across a package of reports, delivered by the agreed completion point.
How is a project charged?
As one fixed fee for the whole agreed scope, set before work begins. Anything outside that scope is done only with your approval.
What if the task grows?
If the task turns out to need more, we will say so, and we decide the next step together.
How is a project different from an advisory session?
A session is a half-day or full day of attention to one question or decision. A project is a task that takes longer and has defined deliverables and a completion point.
Does this replace my surveyors or other specialists?
No. We work alongside the specialists you appoint, helping to coordinate and to read their findings from your side.
How do I start?
Start the right conversation through the contact page, or email us a short description of the task. We will confirm whether a project is the right fit before you commit to anything.
Next step
Tell us the task. We will tell you if it fits.
The first conversation is private and carries no obligation. Choose whichever way is easiest.
